(Cameras open and unveil a quiet setting where the EAW Hall of Famer, Heart Break Boy is comfortably seated behind a black table with a bottle of wine and a few glasses. Like always, HBB is sporting his cowboy hat while expressing amusement at the latest guest on the show. EAW Hall of Famer and current EAW Unified Tag Champion, “The Mauler” Kassidy Heart is shown with a huge smile on her face. She is wearing a matte black leather outfit with Balenciaga sunglasses as both legends turn towards the camera.)
HBB: Ladies and gents, I’m proud to present to you another episode of talks with the Heart Break Boy. I thought it would be an interesting idea to sit down with fellow members of the EAW community and talk about their amazing careers. This company has been very long standing and we have a bunch of individuals who deserve their flowers. I’m only here to help appreciate their efforts and get a little more inside depth into their work ethics. So without further ado, I’ll love to introduce the next guest into the show… She is the Crown Jewel of the industry. … Gawd’s Gift to Professional Wrestling… The Mad King…The indisputable Greatest of All Time… Kassidy Heart!
Kassidy: Now that’s exactly how I should always be announced, to be honest. I knew I liked you, HBB.
(The two legends smile at one another.)
Kassidy: I appreciate you having me.
HBB: We got another GOAT on the show so we have to start this off in traditional fashion. Kassidy Heart is the biggest name in EAW history. There’s just too many things she has done for our community. She has won about every major title and accolade there is. It’s a fact she is one of the more consistent workers, and will go down historically as the best writer in the EAW. She has always been a great leader, and an amazing person to talk to beyond wrestling. You wouldn’t imagine life in EAW without her presence because the aura she brings to this platform is contagious. A true workhorse and more than deserving of an appreciation for the way she has carried herself through her long career journey. And for that I would like to toast for many more great years to come and celebrate Kassidy Heart’s absolutely astonishing contributions!
(HBB and Kassidy Heart raise their wine glasses in the air as younger images of her pop on the big screen behind them.)
HBB: How was that introduction?
Kassidy: I should be humbled by it, but everything you said is more or less the truth. I know that I have crafted a legacy in this company that will never be touched and I’m extremely proud of that. I have certainly worked for it and sacrificed nearly everything meaningful in my life for it. In fact, I would go as far as saying that I have reshaped the way we view this sport, bringing to it an unmatched creative flair and passion. It’s been almost seven years since I’ve come on the scene and I’m just as hungry for success and recognition as I’ve ever been. I want more. I need more. I’m looking forward to doing more. I want to continue shattering glass ceilings, HBB, and I think that is what will continue to set me apart from my peers.
HBB: I expect nothing less from you, Kassidy. It would seem hard to imagine EAW without your presence and dedication but explain to us… how did you find EAW? Where do you come from?
Kassidy: Are we doing this in-character or out?
HBB (laughs): Call it what you want! Give us all something to think about.
(Kassidy laughs before she continues.)
Kassidy: EAW actually found me, not the other way around. Of course, I was well aware of EAW. It’s the biggest sports entertainment company in the world. I was just a random indie wrestler who was searching for a job. I had a very tumultuous start in the business, which I’ve been open about, and once my life as I knew it shattered into pieces, I ran from my life and escaped to my grandmother’s place in Hawaii. She encouraged me to follow this path, but to do it on my own, so I had a tape made of my matches and sent it out, not really looking for anything, but REVOLT Pro Combat decided they wanted to take a chance on me. I signed and the rest, as they say, is history.
Kassidy: Now if you want an answer from the woman behind the character, I was looking to escape an efed community that had become draining and toxic, and go somewhere new, where I didn’t know anyone and there weren’t any expectations.
HBB: Interesting.. I did not know any of that. Did you ever think your career would have gone this far starting off in the business?
Kassidy: From an in character and out of character perspective, absolutely not. When I first started efedding it was on MSN and the feds I was in never lasted longer than a year. Once one shut down, we just moved on to the next, and typically made a new character. So to be in the same fed AND play the same character for what will be seven years in January… that is absurd to me. But it’s also kind of cool, because that’s what happens in wrestling in real life, and like there’s a chance to actually build a legacy. I didn’t know that could actually happen in efeds and I think that is pretty awesome.
HBB: I’m actually glad those feds never worked out for you or else we wouldn’t have had the privilege to experience you in this place. Haha. I also considered your work to be top notch regardless of what you put your hands in. What is the motivation that keeps you going?
Kassidy: I really have no idea. Perhaps it’s a little bit of pride, and not really wanting to quit, and maybe it’s a little bit of manic, creative energy that I need to put into something. I grew up wanting to be a writer, a romance novel writer (shocking, right), but there’s always been a block there when it comes to actually completing something. I guess I just want to keep having a creative outlet.
HBB: How is your relationship with Mr. DEDEDE? What was your first interaction with him like?
Kassidy: He is one of my best friends, and I love what we have built as Kassidy and DDD. I think what we have is really special, and it’s definitely fun, even after all this time. I’m not even going to act like I wake up every day excited to promo. I don’t most of the time because I have a lot going on in my real life that leaves me mentally drained and emotionally exhausted. But I had so much fun promoing as Kassidy against DDD and Seb, and that actually carried over to this past week for the Last Stand. We have discussed at length about how our characters first met and we both want to tell that story one day. I will say their first ever interaction goes back to REVOLT though. As for him and I? He actually hit me up after Territorial Invasion 2018 and told me what a joy it was to promo against the Jaded Wolfe Hearts and I was basically like ‘ohmygod, you think we were that good??’ Very surprising, but it wasn’t but a couple of months later we decided we wanted to work together.
HBB: I know Mr. DEDEDE has the biggest influence on a lot of legends including myself. I can almost shed a tear thinking about the moments we’ve shared or the things I’ve watched him do. Are there any moments or advice from him that you could never forget about?
Kassidy: My favorite moment that involves him that I will never forget is an out of character moment from the Discord. Silver Ann Gold declaring that this was not the fed for her because Kassidy got drugged by DDD and he married her. I guess she never watched WWE clips and saw how Triple H and Stephanie got together :mjlol:. As for advice, he has told me multiple times not to take this so seriously and I will save myself headaches. Needless to say, I have yet to listen :mjlol:.
HBB (laughs): If you’re not prepared for some off the wall stuff then EAW is surely not for you. And you guys also have kids and a beautiful marriage together. How’s that working for you two?
Kassidy: Marriage is wonderful. Our four children are wonderful. We didn’t really announce the birth of Hyacinth, because we just wanted to keep this one close. We were pretty public about the twins and Marcus, but after what happened with our gestational carrier and Bronson, we just decided to enjoy Hyacinth’s birth and keep it to ourselves and our family.
HBB: Beautiful. Surely a powerful couple right there. So I always wondered how it first came about… you writing for Voltage? I mean, how many years has it been now you’ve been a head writer?
Kassidy: Banks tricked me into taking the job from him. I have been writing Voltage since January 2019 :francis:
HBB: Wouldn’t be able to enjoy this thing without a little Banks manipulation😉 I always remember the time he persuaded me to join AWF when I was an ACW member and while they were in the middle of a heated rivalry back in 07. But that’s a long ass time. You’ve been doing a fantastic job at keeping up with these shows. Are there any pros and cons as to being a head writer for so long?
Kassidy: Bro, seriously. My storytelling is not what it used to be, and I have no problem admitting that. I have just done so much with the show and the characters that have come my way over the years that sometimes I find myself struggling to keep things fresh. I definitely won’t say Voltage has suffered from my lack of creativity or anything, but I know that for the second half of this season, I need to buckle down and really find some clever ideas heading into Pain for Pride season and whatnot.
HBB: I’m sure you’ll find a way to get through it like always. And I’ll say this, I always loved the direction of every character of mine on your show. From Cleopatra to SOSA Henderson and even Samael. It’s almost like you knew what to do and it made things much easier for me in my promos. But do you have any favorite shows you’ve written that stick out to you the most?
Kassidy: I don’t because I swear my out of character CTE is as bad as Kassidy’s at this point. I can definitely say that my favorite ever storyline I have created, my Magnum Opus, was the rise and fall of New Eden. I don’t mean to sound egotistical, but that entire storyline is probably one of the best EAW has ever seen.
HBB: What a treasure that storyline was. New Eden was truly the most interesting saga ever done in EAW. Have you ever experienced any regrets over certain decisions you’ve made as a writer?
Kassidy: (laughing) I will share that with you off the record!
HBB: I got ya! Well hit up da DM’s I’m all ears! Ha.. I also noticed that you’re so organized and detail oriented with everything you do.. What inspired you to write? Are there any particular things you personally prepare yourself before you start?
Kassidy: The hardest part of writing is actually getting started. I will procrastinate until I absolutely can not put it off any longer, but once I finally do start, it seems to go pretty well. When I promo, I take it in 500 word intervals, and take a break after each part. I will read a chapter of a book, or watch Real Housewives until an ad comes up. Then I will get back to writing. I’ve also weirdly become a cellphone promoer, and it honestly goes much quicker than me sitting down at my computer and doing this.
HBB: I 100% agree with that. And for a lot of people who didn’t know. I’m also a cellphone promoer. Been that way since 2020. It’s not that hard to do when you’ve written over 50,000 hours actually. Speaking of writing however, who is on Kassidy’s Mount Rushmore list for writers? Excluding yourself.
Kassidy: (googles how many people on Mount Rushmore) Okay! If we are talking promoers, it is obviously Mr. DEDEDE, Impact, Jamie O’Hara, and Malcolm Jones. But I will say this, it is pretty unfair to only pick four. There are so many incredible promoers in EAW that it truly just comes down to personal preference, and those four are always the people I rush to the promo page and read. I would be remiss if I did not point TLA, Drake King, Myles, Minerva, Cameron, Milli, Sienna Jade, and yourself as people who have proven to be unique, versatile, and extremely creative be it how they handle their character, or the fact they have been able to create alts that are so incredibly different from one another.
Kassidy: If we are talking about a Mount Rushmore of match writers, I would have to say Mr. DEDEDE, Drake King, Andre Walker, and Jake Smith. Each one of those people have written matches that stick out in my mind, and while I am sure EAW history is littered with more amazing match writers, these are the ones who have stood out during my time here and that is what I am basing this off of.
HBB: That is a great list right there. All of those names are surely on my radar. Do you have a favorite promo or match you’d like to share as your favorite?
Kassidy: Who’s favorite match isn’t Prophetic Visions?!?! But the Extreme Elimination Chamber that Elite wrote for New Eden was absolute perfection, and nothing will ever top that from me, though there have been a lot of matches that have come damn close. Jake always seems to bring his best out when I challenge him and people really need to stop sleeping on him as a writer.
HBB: I’ve had a lot of my best times being under Jake as head writer so I can’t argue that. I’m sure you have some funny stories to also share about your experiences within your writing team.
Kassidy: :mjlol: My writing chats have always been ridiculous, and have actually been pretty sadistic. From Pehrox wanting to decapitate Consuela to Drake asking me if he could tie Cameron up in a match, to the same kid becoming fucking blood thirsty, I have always been blessed and amused with some extremely funny people to help with Voltage.
These two screenshots represent just a FRACTION of the fuckery that’s happened over the years.
HBB: Haha. That’s awesome! Poor Cam can’t catch a break. Who are your biggest inspirations, whether it be EAW or someone outside the community?
Kassidy: I’m not sure I even have an answer for that, at this point. I have been transparent with you in our private chats about how for the last couple of months I have been going through some things and I really believe that my faith is what is truly pulling me through. I’m not here to really get into a religious conversation but I’m a believer and I’ve come to really rely on that as of late. In terms of just people, in the community and out of it, DDD is a huge inspiration and his in-character endorsement of Kassidy continuing his legacy kinda keeps me going. I think it goes without saying that I love Serena Williams and Celine Dion, and the author Kristin Hannah because there is not a more well researched, descriptive writer than she is. And then there is Mariska Hargity. I love that bad ass bitch more than anything.
HBB: I’m glad you’ve been holding up a lot lately. I’m praying for you to push forward and get through what you have going on. I’m sure the entire EAW community understands. I know I get a lot of negative feedback from my inconsistencies but hey! When you’ve been doing this thing since 12 years old (I’m 32 now), you have to understand there is still a life we must live beyond a computer or wrestling community. With that being out the way.. Do you have a favorite opponent to promo against? Who is your biggest rival and someone you look forward to facing?
Kassidy: I don’t have a favorite opponent because I hate them all! (laughs) TLA and Consuela Rose Ava stick out for me as Kassidy because I’ve faced them the most and the promo battles always went hard. In terms of someone I look forward to facing? It would definitely be Myles. We haven’t had that moment yet and I really can’t wait for it.
HBB: TLA and Cam are great. No questions about them. But I’m shocked you never had that moment with Myles. Fantastic character and promoer right there. I’d say my favorites have been either Drake King or Minerva. They really push you to the point where you have to use everything in your arsenal. Myles is also one of those guys. Far as your shows go… what do you look for in someone who has potential to be in a good position on your show? Of course, they have to be decent writers but is there something else you pick and choose from?
Kassidy: For me, it’s all about selling the results, character development, and story-telling. You don’t have to be the greatest writer because not everyone can be a DDD or a Jamie. But if you can draw me into your character, then I can promise you I will fight for you and do my best to push you to the moon and back.
HBB: Well I hope all the young and up-and-coming EAW elistists heard that. Story-telling is especially a big thing. You won’t have any motion without it. Do you have some favorite characters you’ve written for?
Kassidy: I think the entire EAW Universe knows that for many years Charlie Marr and Rex McAllister were my muses. I loved MarrKade and their father, and really enjoyed telling their stories in the early days. Then I just got stuck on Charlie and the rest is history! Drake King has been a huge muse for me as well, as has been New Eden, the Beating Hearts of Voltage, and my new little babies Michael Machina and Bea Valentine.
HBB: I love it! You and Sienna Jade have been killing it as Unified Tag Champions. The Jaded Hearts will go down as one of the greatest tag teams of all time. Do you think ya’ll deserve to be inducted into the EAW Hall of Fame together?
Kassidy: I don’t usually say shit like this, but if the Jaded Hearts aren’t inducted in this year, I would be legitimately shocked.
HBB: I definitely agree. You guys deserve that moment together because you’ve been a team for a very long time. What is also your relationship like with Sienna/Kendra? How did you guys first interact?
Kassidy: Honestly? Banks sent her to message me and befriend me in REVOLT because he didn’t want me to quit.
HBB: How did The Jaded Hearts even come about?
Kassidy: More or less from that first ever interaction. We have this long ass DM from 2018 where we just started chatting and eventually it just took off from there. I actually don’t know if it was her idea or Banks’, but it seems to have worked out.
HBB: Now let’s talk about your other characters that you’ve also been in the making of building Hall of Fame careers with and you have done quite a few. Do you have any favorites? Can you break down how you came up with these characters?
Kassidy: Honestly, it usually starts with a pic base. Then I just build the character around that. I absolutely have about a million ideas for characters in my head, just waiting for their faces. In terms of my alts, a girl never forgets her first. I’ll be the first to admit that I let Harlow Reichert go a little too early. I was disgruntled and didn’t enjoy handling her because I felt like she was going to just be stagnant after losing the Unified Tag Team Championships.
Kassidy: So I just decided to let her go and I can’t help but think that if I had stuck with her, she probably would have become world champ. As far as my current alts, which are Veena, Caroline, and Auburn, two of them are a bit mediocre right now and I don’t really know what to do with them, but as for Veena?
Kassidy: I’m just glad DDD gave her to me and that Banks suggested the right pic base for her. I don’t really know what the future is for me in terms of handling multiple characters, but all the ones I have hold a special place in my heart.
HBB: Have you ever had a hard time promoing on someone? And if so, can you explain?
Kassidy: Yes. TLA is the toughest person for me to promo on just because of how unique his voice is. It’s very hard to be more creative than TLA, because when someone is a good trash talker against me, I like to rely on my creativity instead. You can’t do that against him because he’s just that good at what he does and it’s always a struggle week for me when he’s my opponent.
HBB: Ok now vice versa, have you ever felt like you were just too much for an opponent when it came to writing? Like not to sound mean. Have you ever had to take your foot off the gas because of how you felt about the opponent?
Kassidy: I am way too competitive to feel even an ounce of sympathy for anyone I face. I want to continue winning titles and racking up accomplishments, so I’m always going to going as hard as I can, despite how I feel and over the years, promoing has become tedious for me. But I don’t like to not give my best effort, and that looks different week to week, but I don’t think my quality has ever lacked, and I want people to get irritated and feel a way when they see their name next to mine on the card.
HBB: I know I asked you earlier who you would look forward to facing in the future but are there any possible Dream matches you’ve considered?
Kassidy: It’s Myles. The streets need it and I want it before I retire.
HBB: That is a Pain for Pride match for the centuries right there! You’ve had so many great victories over the years and too many major accolades to name all at once. What is your favorite title win?
Kassidy: That’s a great question and I know it sounds stupid, but all of them are significant to me in some capacity. They have all come at pivotal moments for whatever character got that win, and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to even think about this question. It’s been very fruitful for almost seven years, that’s for sure.
HBB: Any other favorite moments in your career that you love to share?
Kassidy: By far, it would be King of Elite. I don’t think there has ever been a bigger accomplishment for a female promoer and female character, and the fact I got that is amazing. I also have to point at Grand Rampage as well because I was at my creative best and I don’t think I could have done any better. I have never seen anyone approach a Grand Rampage like I did and when my quality prevailed, I was beyond happy.
HBB: What are Kassidy Heart’s future goals? For you and your other characters as well.
Kassidy: For Kassidy, I would love to see her win the World Heavyweight Championship and get inducted into the Hall of Fame with Sienna as the Jaded Hearts. I also have a bit of a selfish goal for her and that’s to win the New Breed Championship to become the first woman to win the Grand Slam.
Kassidy: For Veena, I hope to see her become a world champion or win Cash in the Vault.
Kassidy: When it comes to Auburn and Caroline, I personally want to win the Specialists Championship because that is one of the most poignant championships in EAW history and I’ve never gotten to represent that and what it stands for.
HBB: I’d like to thank you for taking your time out to sit down with me when I’m sure you have a busy schedule. But before we can go, we have to end things with a little fun questionnaire! Are you ready, Kassidy?
Kassidy: Oh Gawd. As ready as I’ll ever be, I guess!
HBB: If you had a superhero power, what would it be?
Kassidy: I’d love to be invisible! Then no one would bother me and I could listen to EVERYTHING.
HBB: What is your favorite movie of all time?
Kassidy: Titanic
HBB: If you were the last person on earth, what would you be doing?
Kassidy: I would actually be enjoying myself because I’d finally be at peace.
HBB: Who is your top five favorite wrestlers of all time?
Kassidy: Edge, Christian, Randy Orton, Kelly Kelly, and Macho Man
HBB: What’s your EAW Mount Rushmore like?
Kassidy: Kassidy, Caroline, Auburn, and Veena :troll:
HBB: Do you prefer road trips or flying out?
Kassidy: I don’t mind either, because either way I’m bound to get sick. I get sick and get sick on flights 👎🏼
HBB: What is your favorite place to travel?
Kassidy: I really enjoyed going to Toronto and I love New Orleans.
HBB: Name your favorite cartoon characters?
Kassidy: Archer
HBB: How long have you been a football fan?
Kassidy: I’m from Alabama, so basically since birth.
HBB: Isn’t Drake King the best friend you could ever have?
Kassidy: There wouldn’t be a Voltage if it weren’t for Drake King.
HBB: Is there anything new for Kassidy Heart to offer to the community?
Kassidy: Retirement but I don’t like giving the people what they want.
HBB: And with that being said, thanks again for the greatest of all time, Kassidy and for the ones watching this show. We had a great time and I can’t wait for more episodes to come! See ya next time!
