“Pretty Boy” Jae Richards vs. Sam Storm

( Ride the Lightning by Metallica begins to stir through the arena. Sam Storm’s appearance tonight, on Fight Grid, is greeted with a positive reception. Sam Storm is a veteran of the sport and he’s looking to keep on the right track now he’s landed in the biggest promotion in the world! Storm poses on the entrance ramp, soaking in the crowd. )

Maria Del Rey: This following contest is scheduled for one fall! Coming to the ring first, from Washington DC, weighing in tonight at 230 pounds…  SAM STORM!

Ben Knight: Well another week, another fight grid Clark. This is where some of the company’s brightest prospects today made their debuts. This is the proving ground, the gateway to the pinnacle of this promotion! The new era classic, all the participants who found wins in that tournament. A lot of them started out on Fight Grid, just like Sam Storm tonight!

Clark Ruggeiro: Sam is a bit of a different case to a lot of the folk we see. He’s been in the game for such a long time, but only now finds himself in Elite Answers Wrestling! You have to wonder how his first match is going to play out, here.

( Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2 by A$AP ROCKY rips through the sound system now. “Pretty Boy” Jae Richards receives a similar reaction from the appreciative crowd. Ultimately, they recognise that these two are new to the promotion and want to get kick started with a win on their books! Jae poses before making his way down to the ring, high-fiving fans as he does. )

Maria Del Rey: And his opponent, raised in Detroit, Michigan, he weighs in tonight at 200 pounds… He is the “Highlight Reel” Jae Richards!

Ben Knight: What differentiates Jae Richards from Sam Storm, here, is that while Sam is more of a traditionalist, Jae has trained in a lot of combat sports. He has Judo, Boxing and Grappling all under his belt. A triple threat if you will! He’s going to be a problem for any combatant we see, be that here on Fight Grid or elsewhere!

Clark Ruggerio: Both these men have shown the ability to make it here. But pitting them against each other is so cruel! Because you just know they’re going to do everything to win, and make their careers here start off with a victory! Both men are focused, high-stakes all around in this opening match of two here on Fight Grid!

Ben Knight: The bell rings and these two men are quick to meet in the middle! There’s no wasting time here, those debut jitters aren’t present tonight! This match starts with some light grappling, a collar-tie up transitioned to a headlock by Sam Storm. But Jae fires off some elbows to the side of the head of Storm, forcing him to drop the hold!

Clark Ruggerio: Richards gestures for Storm to meet him in the middle of the ring, and the two men begin to tee off! They’re swinging for the bleachers here and are full of energy! Jae shows off his arsenal of elbows and knees, pele kick stuns Storm! Jae bounces off of the ropes— standing lariat from Storm! But Richards ducks underneath, transitioning into an uppercut! Followed by a judo throw! Pinfall!

Referee: One.. Two.. Kickout!

Ben Knight: Sam Storm is up now, and these two cannot stop throwing punches at each other. Series of right hands as both men are throwing bombs. The crowd is all for this, cheering these men on as they both test each other’s resiliency! But finally, Sam Storm hits Jae with an uppercut which sends him staggering! Sam Storm goes for the thunderclap! The brogue kick! But Jae Richards smartly drops to the mat and rolls out of the ring, leaving Storm frustrated and gesturing for him to get back into the ring aggressively!

Clark Ruggerio: Jae is in a bit of a predicament here with Storm blocking off whichever portion he’s angling to re-enter through. Jae has to slide in, but Storm instantly catches him with kicks and punches. Jae grabs ahold of his opponent and wrestles him to the mat! Sam rolls onto his stomach and Jae begins laying on the elbows and punches to the head. That really backfired for Storm!

Ben Knight Sam is doing all he can to crawl to the ropes, as Jae throws uncontested, violent shots to the back of the head. Sam reaches an arm out and Jae attempts to swipe it back. But Storm contorts his body and pulls himself to the ropes! Sam manages to get to the ropes now and the referee begins counting down. Always a gentleman, Jae allows his opponent to get up off of the mat and gestures for him to get up.

Clark Ruggerio: Sam Storm lays Jae Richards out with a vicious clothesline! Sam instantly picks him up and connects with a fervent powerbomb! The tide of this one has changed instantly, Jae was too busy pandering to the crowd! He let his concentration slip for a second, and Sam took advantage of it! If he’s going to survive in the land of the elite, you can’t afford to take your eye off of the ball like that!  Jae rolls to the outside but Sam is right there with him. Sam picks Jae up and throws him towards the steel steps, only for Jae Richards to reverse Sam’s momentum against him!

Ben Knight: Sam tumbles over the steps and falls onto the other side. Both men are giving it their all here. Sam is up to a knee and Jae Richards sprints in, leveling him with a running dropkick! The momentum sends Storm onto his back, as Jae encourages the crowd to cheer. Richards soon after picks Sam up and throws him into the ring, electing to go for a pinfall!

Referee: One.. Two.. Kickout!

Clarke Ruggerio: Sam pushes his shoulders off of the mat, the referee waving hands to Jae who was certain he had him! Jae runs a hand over his head, looking up to the ceiling. He cannot believe that this one wasn’t over there and then! Jae pulls Sam up to his knees and grabs a wrist.. Execution-Style Murder! Kamigoye! But Sam gets his other hand and blocks the shot!

Ben Knight: Sam throws a kick up into Jae’s gut! Jae is stunned! Sam is standing now and whips Jae onto his shoulders! This one could be over here and now. He’s looking for it, the F5! Jae slithers out though, and locks in a standing guillotine choke! Sam has nowhere to go, he’s fading.. But he begins to fight back with elbows, punches, whatever he can do to break free! Sam breaks free! He goes for a huge lariat, but Jae ducks beneath it, locking the wrist. Sam Storm is caught! Sam Storm has nowhere to go! Braindead II! Wrist-Lock Fisherman Buster!

Referee One.. Two.. Three!!!

(Ding! Ding! Ding!)

Maria Del Ray: Here is your winner, via pinfall… Jae Richards!

( Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2 by A$AP ROCKY plays throughout the arena once again! Knight and Ruggerio discuss Jae Richards impressive win here against Sam Storm. Jae gets up and has a wide smile on his lips, he can’t believe it! The referee rightfully raises his hand, while Sam Storm stirs into consciousness. The commentary team discusses Jae Richards’ impressive showing on tonight’s broadcast. As Sam Storm gets up, the two share a handshake and celebrate with the crowd! )

Bryant Coffey vs. Halsey Neel

( Seek and Destroy by Metallica rips through the P.A. system, the crowd’s good mood souring almost instantly. Halsey Neel is out for her main event match-up against Bryant Coffey! She has a somber expression painting her facial features. Halsey looks out into the crowd, the audience tonight jeering and booing the woman who also fought on Fight Grid a couple of weeks ago! )

Maria Del Rey: The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and is our main event of the evening! Introducing first, hailing from Birmingham, england… Weighing in tonight at 140lbs, she is “The Sharpshooter” Halsey Neel!

Ben Knight: The last time Halsey Neel was on Fight Grid, to say things went her way would be a huge understatement. She picked up a big, big win and pretty much silenced the crowd with her performance! But that won’t satisfy her, she’ll be looking to capitalize on that and keep things rolling against a step-up in competition, Bryant Coffey.

Clark Ruggerio: Halsey hasn’t been here for too long, but, she’s already looking like quite the prospect! Her fighting IQ and her technical prowess cannot be understated. She’ll cause a lot of wrestlers problems, regardless of experience and gender!

( Walk by Avenged Sevenfold screams throughout the arena, fans cheering and booing and not sure of what they’re doing! But the reaction is wild all the same, as Bryany Coffey walks out onto the entrance ramp! He looks cool as a cucumber, not eager or particularly angry at tonight’s events. All Bryant knows is he’s got a difficult obstacle to knock down tonight in the shape of Halsey Neel! )

Ben Knight: Bryant Coffey might not look like a typical wrestler. But, behind that messy hair and that youthful face, is a man ready to bring destruction to the ring! He’s picked up some notable wins in his career, and he’s no pushover, either. Bryant knows he’s the favorite for this one and he’ll be looking to get a win under his belt tonight!

Clark Ruggerio: One thing I like about Bryant Coffey is how versatile he is. Take Halsey Neel for example. It’s clear she’s a technical wrestler. She excels in close-quarters and grappling on the mat. Bryant Coffey can do that and so much more! He is comfortable on the feet, in the air, inside and outside of the ring!

Ben Knight: The bell rings and what is our main event for Fight Grid is underway! Bryant Coffey has a light smirk on his face, staring down at his much smaller opponent tonight, none other than Halsey Neel! Halsey has an emotionless stare on her face, she’s eager to prove herself tonight against an established name in the promotion! The two begin to circle, that is until Bryant Coffey steps in and hits a cross punch! Another! He picks Halsey up for a powerbomb! Halsey slips out however and hits a spinning kick to Bryant’s stomach! Forearm smash! Bryant is stumbling and is dropped with a pump kick! Halsey goes for the cover..

Referee: One.. Kickout!

Clark Ruggerio: Bryant shrugs off Halsey’s offence. He needs to get in the game! Halsey is gesturing that she’s going to win the match and that Bryant shouldn’t take her lightly. Halsey lures Bryant into the corner as Bryant charges forward. She tries to evade to the left, but Bryant is there to lock her up into a collar-tie! He easily outmuscles the woman from Birmingham and puts her into the corner. Bryant strikes with a high kick, pushing Halsey back into the corner when she tries to escape. He runs forth, but Halsey connects with a knee! Onto the second rope now, tornado DDT!

Ben Knight: That was an innovative offence from Halsey here as Bryant falls to the mat, letting out a groan in pain. Halsey lines Bryant up as he scrambles to get to his feet. Bicycle Kick! But Bryant ducks, grabbing Halsey’s wrist as he does! Bryant slips behind Halsey now, and “The Ripper” is powerless to stop Coffey as he lifts her into the air and connects with a Pumphandle Suplex! A Pumphandle Slam from Bryant Coffey sends Halsey sprailling! Could this one be over so quickly?

Referee: One.. Two.. Kickout!

Clark Ruggerio: Bryant charges at Halsey now, who is getting back to her feet. But Halsey is able to evade, using Bryant’s leverage and momentum against him to whip him into the ropes! Bryant capitalizes on this, though, he’s no rookie! He proceeds to hop onto the ropes, soaring up and going for a springboard hurricanrana! Halsey is sent tumbling to the canvas. She might be one of the more technically excellent grapplers here on the roster. But the size and power advantage lies with Bryant Coffey here, Bryant is soaking in hitting such a lovely move!

Ben Knight: Bryant grabs hold of Halsey and drags her up to her feet. He goes for a hangman neckbreaker to continue his good momentum going, however Halsey hits a couple of precise knees to the stomach to stop Bryant’s steam in its tracks. She manages to drop Coffey with a side slam, before transitioning her arsenal into a single leg Boston crab! But, Coffey sits up, and with all his might grabs Halsey by her shoulder and slams her alongside him onto the mat! He wasn’t in the mood for a submission attempt, cutting it out at its core before Halsey could even begin applying pressure!

Clark Ruggerio: From there on, Bryant gets back up onto his feet, he eggs Halsey to give it her best shot, but as she does, he goes for a spinebuster! But Halsey wriggles free, connecting with a knee strike, then a knife chop! Another knife chop! A third one now! She’s lighting Bryant up like a firework display and sends him running to the corner! Halsey drops Coffey with a superkick in the corner, the sole of her boot planting itself on his chin! Afterwards, she mounts him and pummels down elbows and strikes. Bryant is getting squashed into the mat. Here’s a cover!

Referee: One.. Two.. Kickout!

Ben Knight: Halsey moves quickly. She can sense the tide of this bout turning and she knows she can’t wait around for Bryant to get up. She drops a knee onto Bryant’s shoulder joint in an attempt to keep him grounded. But Bryant takes her down and both are struggling for power on the ground, rolling around like hot dogs down the hills of Chicago! Both Bryant and Halsey get up now, and trade kicks and punches, a sloppy, close-combat affair. Halsey whips Bryant into the ropes, but he bounces off and catapults into her! Bryant bounces again as Halsey races to get onto her feet. He hops up, wraps legs around Halsey and hits a poisonrana! A beautiful maneuver by Bryant Coffey!

Clark Ruggerio: Bryant doesn’t give Halsey room to breathe here. “Bloodhound” looks for a camel clutch, but Halsey rolls him up! A one count, Bryant reverses and rolls Halsey up! A two count! But Halsey breaks free. Halsey is first up and lays some haymakers into Bryant’s stomach and face. She signals for the end here, and in an amazing feat of strength, she carries Bryant up onto her shoulders! However, the pure size advantage that Coffey has proves too much of a disadvantage for Halsey, she can’t keep him up for too long!

Ben Knight: Coffey lands beside her, and wraps an arm around! He goes for the uranage suplex. Halsey keeps herself rooted to the spot, though. But this time, Halsey manages to get him up! The crowd is amazed at this spectacle! She goes for Blood on the Leaves and connects! Roundhouse kick plants Bryant Coffey as he drops to the mat. Is this it?

Referee: One.. Two.. Three!

( Ding! Ding! Ding! )

Maria Del Rey: Here is your winner via pinfall… Halsey Neel!

( Halsey’s theme song stirs through the arena. The audience is gobsmacked. Bryant has been here a fair while longer than his opponent, but tonight he was bested! Halsey rises to her feet, giving a fleeting, sarcastic curtsy to the crowd. The audience begin to boo and jeer the red-haired woman, while Bryant Coffey meekly rolls out to the outside of the ring. The commentators put over Halsey Neel, her technical proficiency and the winning maneuver she utilized to get ahead in this match! Thank you for joining us on Fight Grid, until next time! )
